ALA, Abruzzo Laminazione Alluminio, is a new company in the Otefal Group: located near Aquila's industrial estate, ALA includes various sectors producing coils in aluminium alloys in various thicknesses, widths and physical states.
ALA therefore represents a further step in the expansion of the Group's production activities, always with a view to dedicating particular care and attention to the product range with the goal of achieving the high quality standards which have always been a hallmark of Otefal products.
Within its production cycle, ALA carries out various metallurgical activities: foundry, rolling mill, annealing and cut-to-length lines.
The foundry unit uses classical continuous casting technology. This process makes it possible to “cast” molten metal continuously around the clock between 2 internally water-cooled cylinders, producing mill-product coils.
The cold rolling mill unit, which is supplied by mill-product coils sourced both internally and externally, uses a non-reversible Quarto plant complete with a flattener roller and thickness measurer. This treatment technology allows for greater consistency in the finished product in terms of flatness and thickness.
The heat treatment unit is located near the rolling mill. It includes four ovens, projected by Otefal Engineering, and carries out pressurised treatment cycles controlled in order to provide the mechanical characteristics of the metal requested by the customer.
Finally, the planarity roller gives the coil a flatness which enables Otefal's painting lines to apply both liquid and powder paints perfectly to ALA's finished coils.
The highly versatile nature of this new production site allows for shorter turn-around times for the delivery of end products, a characteristic which, together with the possibility of ordering even small quantities and the availability of an unlimited range of colours and finishes, has always been a defining feature of the Otefal Group.
This comprehensive productive synergy has enabled Otefal Group to attain full control over the quality of its “own” aluminium, presenting itself on the national and international market as a trusted partner for companies in pre-painted aluminium sector .
